Blogging Virgin

Hello lovely people, Leigh here! Beginning my blogging adventure with this…my first post! I’m a fully qualified make up artist and beauty therapist and I LOVE my job and everything and anything to do with the beauty industry … Except hair, I’m not great with hair.

The main reason I wanted to start blogging is because I often get so many frequently asked questions from my clients, for example the best foundation for dry skin? what brushes should I use? Is this the right make up for me? The list is endless, so I thought I would come on here to share my insights with all you lovely people because sharing is caring at the end of the day.

So, a bit about me… When I finished school I studied beauty therapy level 2 and 3 alongside a placement in a local salon in Killyleagh, Northern Ireland ( my home town ).

Once I completed my NVQ, I did a special effects make up course with Pamela Smyth who designs for the likes of ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘The Fall’. She asked me to join the team and I have worked on Game of Thrones from seasons 2-6 on location in Northern Ireland and Croatia ( luckiest girl alive! ) This was a fantastic opportunity and opened many doors within the TV industry, I also got to work on TV shows such as ‘The Fall’ and ‘Cant Touch This’.

While doing that I also worked for skin care and make up brand Clinique, which taught me a lot, including the fact that I’m not the greatest sales person in the world and ended up telling people to go two counters down to buy the exact same product for half the price … Not in the job description … Opps!

From then I decided to go travelling to Australia for a year and had the time of my life, working for the make up brand Laura Mercier whilst I was there, learning about even more amazing products ( and I mean amazing! )

Since then I’ve returned to the homeland and have been working as a freelance make up artist and I am loving it! I’m so lucky that I adore my job…my clients are fabulous!! Bridal parties are so up beat and everyone is in a fantastic mood thriving off the adrenalin, it’s so special to be part of their big day! I love pampering ladies and seeing their reaction to their transformation is my favourite part! Looking their best in the most natural way is my key!

So I hope you all join me on my journey, feel free to ask me any questions and I might need to ask you some as this blogging world is new to me! Until the next post …..
